First Concert October 30, 2010 - Lisa plays Ludwig
Join the Port Townsend Community Orchestra for its first concert of the 2010-2011 season on Saturday, October 30 at 7:30 PM – at the Chimacum High School Auditorium. Concerts are free! Come at 6:45 to enjoy a pre-concert conversation with Maestro Dewey Ehling. The orchestra will be accepting food donations on behalf of the local Food Bank; contributions are welcome.
The guest artist is renowned local pianist Lisa Lanza, who will perform with the Orchestra Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Minor. Lisa has won awards for her solo performances of Beethoven and Chopin. She recently studied with French music specialist Paul Roberts at the Guildhall School of Music in London and with the renowned pianist Maria Joao Pires in Portugal. Her solo performances include concerts at The Seattle Art Museum, The Frye Museum, The Bloedel Reserve and The Olympic Music Festival as well as her popular Rose Theatre recital.
In the second half of the program the Orchestra will perform Beethoven's Symphony No. 8 in F Major.
The Port Townsend Community Orchestra was formed in 1987. Orchestra members are your friends and neighbors, the people you see and work with every day in your community. They are also musicians who volunteer their time to play together each week, and their goal is to give you - their neighbors, co-workers and friends - beautiful music to enjoy.
Port Townsend Community Orchestra offers four concerts a year, in October, December, February and April. There is no admission fee so that everyone, children included, can attend. The orchestra is supported by contributions from its patrons and from local businesses. Donations are also welcome at the door.
